Moving to the clouds

Fortunately and unfortunately the former president IBM was not right!

Developing computers has always been an important part of human beings and it is still so. Imagine, that even the Romans and Greeks have developed first calculators and tried to build up machines which help people to calculate things better and faster. But only Konrad Zuse achieved the breakthrough in Personal Computers in 1937 with his Z1. Further computers had even the ability to calculate algorithm within its limited memory cell automatically.

This was new and absolutely great and led to many openings and developments of machines producer labels – like IBM. The corporation “INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS MACHINES” is and was one of the best leading firms in hardware, software and IT-related services. It developed many programs and fantastic computer systems like S/360. In fact, the real PC for home users was introduced in the 80s: Now computers got a main memory of 64kB (today: about 2GB) and microprocessors of 8 to 32 Bits (today 64 bits). You could also find the first computer for office use which has had a computer mouse and was called Lisa.

After this general development of computers and their software and hardware, more and more Usenet was used at universities and companies. This was one of the first networking systems worldwide. We could have access to others, to our neighbours, to foreigners – to the whole world. The process of NETWORKING COMPUTERS began. And in my opinion, this is the most important and most interesting development in the field of Information Technology, because without all inventions like the Z1 and without all those intelligent people like Thomas Watson, Konrad Zuse, Larry Page and Sergey Brin we would not stand there, where we are today. That is beyond all question!

Today our computers can calculate more than simple algorithm – their abilities far exceed  classical areas of applications. Now we can edit images or communicate via skype or facebook. Online-shopping, bookings, mails – everything seems so simple and fast to us. Unfortunately it became obvious.

I want to have a closer look on what we can expect from future trends and developments concerning the IT area and how does it connect everyday business of large companies like Amazon which will be common example therefore.

CLOUD COMPUTING is an excellent future trend with amazing advantages for businesses and a huge reduction in time needed and costs for keeping and buying it. It is like a connection of different types of existing systems, but with more advantages even for normal consumers.

But in fact, a new development in IT in made every two hours. It is impossible to catch up everything, but I will try to do my best and do not irritate you.
